DALLAS MAN SENTENCED TO MORE THAN 12 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON ON FIREARMS CONVICTIONS
DALLAS - Today, in federal court in Dallas, Tyron Lamon Shead, was sentenced to 152 months in prison, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas. Shead, 31, pled guilty in November to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
In March 2006, when officers with the Dallas Police Department responded to a shooting complaint at a house on Gurley Avenue, they saw Tyron Lamon Shead run out the back door of the residence. They chased him and caught him. Meanwhile, other officers entered the house to investigate the shooting complaint. Once inside, they saw cocaine base (“crack”) on the living room coffee table, along with drug distribution paraphernalia and approximately $600 in cash. Next to the coffee table, they found a loaded .38 revolver, tucked into the cushion of a chair. Shead, a convicted felon, admitted that he lived in the house and that he possessed the gun to “guard the door” of his drug house.
