Update on Incident at 12500 Alief Clodine
Charges have been filed against eight suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at 12500 Alief Clodine about 8:15 p.m. on Sunday (March 25).
One suspect, Christopher Barnes (b/m, DOB: 3-25-86), already in custody on an unrelated case, is charged with murder in the 228th State District Court. The remaining seven suspects are wanted, six suspects for murder and one suspect for engaging in organized crime. They have all been charged in the 228th State District Court. The following six suspects are charged with murder: Elton Jones (b/m, DOB: 9-6-86), Kenneth Jones (b/m, DOB: 9-12-88), Cedric Wills (b/m, DOB: 10-26-89), Decovan Reed (b/m, DOB: 3-21-86), Bryon Simmons (b/m, DOB: 11-2-88) and Curtis Byers (b/m, DOB: 4-26-84). The eighth suspect, Dennis Waddell (b/m, DOB: 3-23-70), is charged with engaging in organized crime.
All suspects are accused in the killing of Jackie Louis Morris, 22, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants N.T. Ruland and J. Brooks and Officers E. H. Schmidt and M.F. Waters reported:
Mr. Morris was at a large party in a parking lot when two groups of people became involved in a disturbance. The disturbance escalated and multiple shots were fired. Morris was struck once in the head.
